WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE CANARY ISLANDS | Weather outlook for Good Friday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts for this Thursday cloudy skies with precipitation, which may occasionally be heavy in the north of El Hierro and Tenerife, decreasing maximum temperatures and moderate northwesterly winds with strong gusts.

Strong winds are expected on northeastern and southwestern slopes of the islands, and possible very strong gusts in midlands and peaks of the highest mountains during the first half of the day.

Regarding sea conditions, there are forecasts of southwest and west winds of force 4 to 5 or 4 to 6, locally reaching 7, rough seas or strong swell, increasing to heavy seas. In the south and southeast coasts, variable winds of force 1 to 3 are expected.

Northwest groundswell with waves of 4 to 5 meters and occasionally 6, as well as showers from the night, intensifying.

Cloudy becoming partly cloudy in the morning with light to moderate rain during the early hours, especially in northern and western slopes. By midday, it will turn cloudy in the interior and east slopes where there is a chance of occasional moderate rainfall. Minimum temperatures slightly rising. Maximum temperatures decreasing in the northern half and remaining mostly unchanged in lower areas of the south. Moderate northwesterly winds, blowing strong in highest points and northeastern and southwestern slopes during the first half of the day with possible locally very strong gusts.

Cloudy turning partly cloudy from early morning, with moderate rainfall during the early hours which may be in the form of showers, not ruling out occasional heavy rain. Low chance of light scattered showers towards the end of the day. Minimum temperatures slightly rising and maximum temperatures with few changes or slight decrease. Moderate northwesterly winds with strong gusts, with possible locally very strong gusts during the first half of the day inland and in the northeast.

Cloudy becoming partly cloudy from early morning, with light to moderate rain during the early hours. Light scattered showers are not ruled out towards the end of the day. Minimum temperatures rising and maximum temperatures with few changes or slight decrease. Moderate northwesterly winds with strong gusts, with low chance of locally very strong gusts initially.

Northern areas will experience little change in weather conditions. There will be moderate northwesterly winds, blowing strongly in mountain summits and southwest and northeast slopes during the first half of the day, with the possibility of locally very strong gusts. Wind intensity will decrease in the afternoon.

Partly cloudy becoming mostly clear in the south and east during midday. Showers are likely during the early hours, with the possibility of locally heavy rainfall. Minimum temperatures will slightly rise while maximum temperatures will slightly decrease. There will be moderate northwesterly winds, blowing strongly with occasional very strong gusts in mountain summits, midlands, and the northeast slope during the first half of the day. Wind intensity will decrease in the afternoon.
