Santa Cruz de Tenerife now boasts a total of 15 designated zones for dog recreation and leisure, spread across the city’s various districts. These areas collectively span 14,880 square meters, offering spaces that cater to both dogs and their owners.

These designated areas are furnished with gravel, sand, or grass, as confirmed by the city’s municipal council. Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, expressed, “We coexist with approximately 45,000 dogs in the city, who are integral members of our families. Therefore, we strive to provide them with recreational spaces.”

Bermúdez highlighted that, “In 2011, Santa Cruz only had one dog park, whereas now we have expanded to 15 in different districts, across parks and public spaces. This number is set to rise during this term in office,” he declared.

On the other hand, Public Services Councillor, Carlos Tarife, emphasised, “Santa Cruz is a city that is welcoming to animals, ensuring their care and protection. Therefore, we allocate specific areas across the districts for residents to walk their pets in vast spaces where dogs can roam and have fun.”

Within the Centro-Ifara district, these spaces can be found in García Sanabria Park and the area adjacent to Ana Bautista Pavilion. The Salud-La Salle district features dog enclosures in Don Quijote, La Granja (with separate areas for large and small dogs), Las Indias, and Poeta Manuel Castañeda parks. Meanwhile, in the Ofra-Costa Sur district, they are situated in Cuchillotos de Tristán, Las Delicias, and Chimisay parks. In the Southwest, parks such as Tanganillo, Acorán, La Estrella, La Gallega (all with sections for large and small dogs), La Hoya, and Hupalupa provide spaces for canine recreation.
