The local councils of La Laguna and Tegueste have agreed to jointly submit a request to the Tenerife Cabildo, specifically to the Natural Environment Department, for the island corporation to take on the project of rehabilitating and resurfacing the road that provides access to the Mesa Mota natural area.

The Laguna’s Councillor for Works and Infrastructure, Ángel Chinea, and the Mayor of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, have revealed that the joint request from both municipal corporations will be channeled through La Laguna’s City Council and will be accompanied by a project and a specific budget to expedite its processing and start work as soon as possible, as previously agreed with the Cabildo, which has offered to undertake the project.

This is a “necessary” intervention, due to the poor condition of this road currently due to the passage of time and the heavy traffic it experiences, “especially on weekends,” specified Chinea.

“At the La Laguna City Council, we have carried out several improvement actions in recent years, from different departments, to beautify the area and expand the rural leisure offer of this emblematic spot in La Laguna. What we now need to do is enhance the connection to facilitate our citizens’ access, with all possible guarantees,” added the councillor.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Tegueste, Ana Rosa Mena, has pointed out that Mesa Mota is “a place with great potential, which must be in suitable condition for the enjoyment and use of residents from both municipalities.”
