The local council of Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife will reopen the expansive pool at the Costa Martiánez tourist resort, also known as Lago Martiánez this coming Thursday after the successful completion of enhancement works lasting for a decade.

The upgrades included the refurbishment of the pump room, which will bring about “significant enhancements” in terms of sustainability and efficiency in refilling and draining the pool, holding a capacity equal to ten Olympic-sized pools.

Furthermore, a new subaqueous water filtration system has been introduced, as reported by the local authorities.

Throughout the renovation process, municipal employees have conducted several interventions in the complex’s garden areas, along with maintenance tasks in the terrace zones to enhance the overall ambiance of the resort, acknowledged as a heritage asset under the Historical Garden category.

The mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, commends the efforts of the municipal technicians in surmounting the challenges of “such a intricate project”, being the first complete overhaul of a facility constructed 46 years ago, costing a total of over 1.3 million Euros.

He expresses gratitude for the seamless execution of the works without disruption to the remaining facilities of the tourist destination envisioned by César Manrique, ensuring uninterrupted visitor enjoyment.
