The Cabildo de Tenerife grants a grant of more than 750,000 euros to Candelaria

Its reconstruction is a fundamental requirement and compatible with the remodeling project of the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias which is being promoted by the Cabildo as a strategic project for the island, through the Government area.

“In order to carry out with all the safety guarantees, and to ensure that the sea will not produce any setback again in the process of the same, we consider it absolutely necessary to undertake the actions that encompass this emergency work before bidding from this Island Council for the project of execution of the remodeling of the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias “, has indicated the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, in a note.

However, “and as we promote the projects considered strategic for the island, and this is one of them, due to the value it treasures as a symbol among the island’s population, we attend to the request of the Candelaria City Council and we guarantee with this grant that this work is carried out in a timely manner, “said the president.

The Mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, appreciates the commitment of the President of the Cabildo and the island institution with the municipality in meeting the demand of the City Council by granting this subsidy that will allow facing the emergency work of defense and repair of the Paseo de San Blas, and that it was necessary to undertake the works of the Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias, “another investment that is already closer to materializing”.

These works were declared urgent by the Candelaria City Council and commissioned by the Satocan company, and they include the construction of an underwater breakwater whose extension is considered essential due to the damage caused by the sea to the Plaza de la Patrona and Paseo de San Blas, and thus prevent them from occurring in the future.
