The residents of the municipality of Candelaria woke up this morning to a huge brown patch in the sea. As reported by the Town Hall to the newspaper EL DÍA, this is one of the first effects of the passage of the DANA over Canary Islands. After hours of uncertainty, it has been confirmed that mud is the cause of the color that the southeast coast of Tenerife has taken on. This image is common when these types of weather events occur. Candelaria has experienced rainfall during the night and the result has been a brown tint in the waters near the bathing areas.
[–>The DANA not only affected the sea, but also left a rather unusual scene on land in recent times: the Teide peak covered in snow. The Tenerife Island Council recommends not to climb the mountain and to cancel outdoor activities. The council has activated the Insular Emergency Plan (PEIN) due to the forecast of rain, wind, high waves, and storms for this weekend.
The different areas of the Council will suspend or postpone the outdoor activities they had planned, especially those whose development coincides with the indicated areas or fields. Likewise, the island’s media and resources are on standby in case their intervention is required.

The Candelaria Town Hall, following the Council’s recommendation, has announced on Twitter the postponement of two activities planned for these days: The Experience The Moon with a Woman’s Voice, scheduled for today, Friday, March 22, and the VI Children’s Cycling League Villa de Candelaria, on Saturday 23. The decision is also made in accordance with the predictions made by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), and the high uncertainty regarding the effects that the Isolated High-Level Depression (DANA) that will affect the Archipelago may cause.
