The La Laguna City Council, through the Department of Citizen Security, will soon initiate the process of acquiring new security cameras for the nightlife district of The Quadrilateral. The objective of these devices is to enhance image quality for environmental monitoring and to facilitate action and supervision by the Local Police.

Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, announced the incorporation of three high-definition cameras with night vision, which will complement the functionalities of the existing devices positioned in the most crowded and significant areas. Additionally, the mayor revealed the procurement of new image recorders with improved quality and capacity.

Cristina Ledesma, La Laguna’s Councilor for the Area, further elaborated by detailing that the current video surveillance systems have undergone maintenance, calibration, and adjustment of all cameras installed in various locations within La Laguna and its surrounding streets.

Ledesma emphasised the year-round support provided by specific security units comprising of both Local Police and National Police officers to prevent any incidents or disturbances, while also regulating entry into the area to prohibit risky items like glass bottles. “The presence of these surveillance cameras assists us in identifying and taking necessary actions against any individuals involved in altercations or misconduct,” stated the municipal representative. Ledesma highlighted the council’s dedicated efforts to curb public alcohol consumption, especially among minors, addressing a primary concern of the local residents.
