SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21st March (EUROPA PRESS) –
A malfunction of two hot water pipes in the surgical section of the Canary Islands University Hospital Complex (HUC) on Wednesday evening resulted in the unfortunate cancellation of 21 scheduled procedures.
Although the initial breakdown was resolved smoothly, the Recovery area of the Operating Room was subsequently affected.
While the second incident could have been addressed, it impacted the Operating Room Recovery zone, necessitating the relocation of patients to an alternative area.
Temporary repairs have been executed and efforts are ongoing to rectify the issues, as reported by the HUC.
The medical facility has assured that the 21 postponed surgeries will be rescheduled promptly.
Specifically, surgeries that can be accommodated in other sections of the hospital, such as paediatric and cardiac procedures, have been maintained.
The Ophthalmological Surgery Unit and Major Ambulatory Surgery (CMA) operating theatres are still functional as they have dedicated recovery spaces.
The hospital is diligently working towards restoring normal operations and extends apologies to the affected patients.
