SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21st March (EUROPA PRESS) –

Acting in concert, the Granadilla City Council, accompained by the Civil Guard and the Provincial Coastal Service, executed the expulsion of 45 unauthorized settlements along the coastline of the municipality.

The operation, manned by a total of 25 officers from both the Local Police and the Civil Guard, identified 45 settlements in the areas of La Mareta and Charco del Clérigo.

Adding to the task force were 35 employees from the municipal entity Sermugran, assigned to clear out personal possessions and refuse present in the region. The undertaking mandated the deployment of eight trucks due to the considerable volume of waste discovered along this coastal stretch, as detailed in the official statement released by the City Council.

Carmen Dolores Rodríguez, the councillor heading the Special Security Delegation, praises the operation as “executed smoothly, thanks to the outstanding collaboration between the Local Police and the Civil Guard, working in synchronization to ensure the operational success at all stages.”

Moreover, the official mentions that on 13th March, a notification of eviction was served to nearly 100 residents – largely of European origin – inhabiting the coastal locale. This proactive measure greatly facilitated the operation as the majority of caves were unoccupied during the eviction.

The enforcement, resulting in only one arrest, transpired without incident, with no minors found on-site.
