SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20th March (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has given the green light for an allocation of 1.9 million euros towards three subsidy programmes aimed at promoting cultural activities on the island.

This announcement was made by the Cabildo’s President, Rosa Dávila, and the Vice President, Lope Afonso, during a press conference following the Government Council meeting.

The President highlighted that these subsidies “will help boost cultural activities in all municipalities” as they have “advanced deadlines for better management, a demand long voiced by the sector.”

On his part, Lope Afonso elaborated that the subsidies for Tenerife’s municipalities and its institutional public sector to carry out cultural projects total to 580,000 euros, while those aimed at companies and entrepreneurs in Tenerife amount to 700,000 euros, and those allocated to non-profit entities in Tenerife sum up to 674,000 euros.

“The goal is to stimulate cultural activities through three distinct channels and encourage public-private partnerships for a variety of cultural projects,” he emphasised.

In the field of Road Infrastructure, the Government Council approved the tender for the construction works of the direct lane from the TF-642 to the TF-64 towards the centre of El Médano (Granadilla) with a budget of 1.4 million euros, financed by MEDI-FDECAN.

Once awarded, the construction work is expected to be completed within 11 months and will aid in easing traffic congestion at the San Isidro roundabout while enhancing safety.

Within the scope of Commerce and Business Support, the Government Council approved the annual action plan for 2024 under the collaboration agreement between the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to enhance and boost the productivity of Tenerife’s business community.

The total budget for the actions programme amounts to around 662,000 euros and encompasses initiatives related to internationalisation, environmental advisory services, business innovation, digital transformation, vocational training, and entrepreneurship.

In the area of Primary Sector and Animal Welfare, the Government Council sanctioned a 100% discount for Agricultural Training Plan courses in the fiscal year 2024, benefitting over 2,000 individuals who can avail of free training.

OVER 3.1 MILLION EUROS FOR REFURBISHING THE HELIODORO STADIUM SEATS

Additionally, in the Sports domain, the contract for supplying self-folding seats for the stands of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium was endorsed with a budget of approximately 3,173,000 euros and a projected completion period of 12 months.

Under the Natural Environment, Sustainability, and Security and Emergency sector, the Government Council granted the contract for designing and developing the real-time meteorological information visualisation web platform: Weather Viewer-Phase 1 to the company Vexiza SL.

The Meteo Tenerife platform will serve as a supportive tool for monitoring weather conditions during preventive civil protection operations and adverse weather events, aiding in decision-making during phenomena like heavy rains or strong winds.

Its utility extends to monitoring climatic variables for various risks, including natural or man-made disasters like forest fires, as highlighted in a statement from the Cabildo.
