A novel car park in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will also work towards mitigating the parking challenges at the Our Lady of Candelaria University Hospital. The mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, along with the first deputy mayor, Carlos Tarife, and municipal technicians, inaugurated the commencement of construction this morning for 80 parking slots on Juan Albornoz “Sombrita” street in the Ofra-Costa Sur district.

The first deputy mayor and Public Services councillor, Carlos Tarife, highlighted that “the current municipal administration continues to pursue one of its major objectives, which is the establishment of new parking spaces wherever needed, across the five districts of the city,” elaborating that “the project, involving an outlay of €500,000, will also include four pedestrian crossing recesses on Juan Albornoz ‘Sombrita’ street and the roadbed restoration of Juan Rodríguez Santos Street.”

The 80 spaces, including two designated for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), will be spread across two levels. The upper tier, covering around 1,000 m2, will incorporate the two PRM slots. The lower level, spanning an approximate area of 3,000 m2, will house a total of 58 vehicle spaces.

Moreover, the illumination for this parking facility in the Ofra-Costa Sur district will be powered by seven luminaires equipped with a photovoltaic panel and battery for street lighting, supported by six-meter-high columns.
