SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced a pre-alert status due to haze in the autonomous region, effective from 9:00 a.m. this Sunday, 17th March.
This determination is based on the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other relevant sources, and is in compliance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
Specifically, an episode of suspended dust arrival is predicted to mainly impact Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, as well as the central areas, peaks, and southern slopes of the remaining islands.
This will result in reduced visibility and may trigger or exacerbate health issues for individuals with chronic or respiratory conditions. The public is advised to adhere to the self-protection guidelines from the Directorate of Emergencies.
