Santa Cruz de Tenerife remains committed to developing open spaces by the sea. Following the recent opening of Los Charcos de Valleseco, there are plans in the pipeline to connect this stretch of the capital’s coastline with a new area dedicated to leisure and swimming for the public.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, has once again proposed the idea of creating a sandy beach in La Alemana, the coastal region situated between El Block-Acapulco and Los Charcos. This rocky area, where the Carboneras ships are also located, is yet to undergo development.

During a visit to the newly inaugurated Los Charcos area, the councillor highlighted that “the goal remains to join this new bathing spot with El Block, either by establishing a sandy beach or by constructing pedestrian walkways and sea access stairs, while considering the future usage of the Carboneras ships and dock restoration in the ensuing project.”

Bermúdez emphasised that “the involved parties must reconvene to determine the most viable and expedient project, as obtaining permission from Costas for the sandy beach project could significantly prolong the timeline.”

A kilometer of shoreline that can be connected with a new section, as efforts are being made to advance a preliminary development plan that promises to enhance the city’s coastline, a perpetual aspiration.
