The group Save La Tejita has reported to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Prosecutor’s Office allegations against the manager and architect from the Viqueira firm which is overseeing the building of a hotel near La Tejita beach (Granadilla) for causing “intentional and systematic harm” to a protected natural area, specifically the sand dunes.
The allegations stem from the General Subdirectorate of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge asserting that “the construction company lacks permission to operate within the coastal public domain” and stating that the company lacks a valid title to proceed.
The group also highlights that this contravenes article 330 of the Penal Code.
This marks the second set of allegations that Salvar La Tejita has brought to the attention of the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the activities of this company. In a prior instance in 2023, they raised concerns about possible document tampering and misconduct by several members of the Granadilla de Abona City Council relating to the ‘Sotavento Suites’ project – a venture by the Viqueira Group situated in La Tejita–.
They mention that this particular case is under investigation by the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office and has now moved to the courts’ investigative phase.
