Discovering employment opportunities in Tenerife within eight hours on a spring day. Specifically, the first day of the astronomical season, not meteorological, next May 21st. This is the scheduled date for the Employment and Entrepreneurship forum called Talent Attraction organized by the Tenerife Island Council at the Fairground, where more than 60 companies, 15 entities, and 1,900 registered participants will come together. Within this framework, from ten in the morning until six in the evening, companies will present their openings while job seekers aim to secure a position in the labour market or enhance their current employment. The island’s Corporation, through the Canary Island Foundation for Training, Employment, and Business Development (Fifede), in collaboration with Cruz Roja, is driving this initiative that will take place from 10:00 to 18:00. The event was introduced yesterday by the island’s councillors for Employment and Education, Efraín Medina; Youth and Training, Serafín Mesa, and Industry, along with the chairman of the Tenerife Fairground’s Board of Directors, Manuel Fernández. Also in attendance at the Noble Hall of the island’s Palace was the president of Cruz Roja in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Heliodoro González.

The Councillor for Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, expressed gratitude to Cruz Roja for their efforts in organizing the event and praised the initiative as “essential to reach those individuals actively seeking employment”. He highlighted that more than 1,900 people have registered, alongside a total of 60 companies and 15 entities related to employment. He understands that “this shows the importance of an event like this which aligns with the vision we have at the Council for a comprehensive policy working across all sectors to generate employment”. He concluded with a challenge: “Our aim is to reach out to the 81,728 people who have not yet secured a job to help them find stable employment”.

Strong Commitment

Manuel Fernández stressed the relevance of such initiatives and affirmed that from the Fairground they have “a strong and resolute commitment to training and employment, the foundations to start building an individual’s future”. He added: “We will always provide Tenerife’s productive fabric with resources, such as the Fairground, as the greatest social policy a public administration can undertake is to offer tools to create employment”.

‘Ponos’ Project

Serafín Mesa highlighted that their department will be involved with the ‘Ponos’ project. He emphasized that employment policies “are transformative, and hence, this event is one of the most significant held in Canary Islands“. Mesa encouraged young people and students graduating this year to “sign up, participate, and discover the employment synergies that will aid them in their career path”. Heliodoro González expressed gratitude to the Council and stated that “events like these are crucial if we want to provide the population with all the necessary tools for a successful job search process”. He summarised: “The true protagonists will be the participants and Tenerife’s business fabric which has responded from the outset”. He stressed that “it’s about providing life-changing opportunities”. The organization’s Platform is where interested individuals can register.

Spaces at the Fair

The event will feature a dedicated space for career guidance, advising on aspects such as personal image, creating a Video CV, selection processes, talent management, and entrepreneurship. A space will be set up for companies, associations, and entities to interact. The auditorium will host various presentations by Cruz Roja’s Multichannel Service; psychologist Marisol Bardón, Gloria Díaz, Ashotel, and Renzzo El Selector. The format will be that of a showroom, encouraging interaction between entrepreneurs and companies. The objectives include providing insight into the local job market, promoting access to employment opportunities, and enabling direct applications with local businesses.
