SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
In 2023, the Tenerife Cabildo significantly increased the funding to promote the prestigious Designations of Origin of quality wines found on the island, rising from 50,000 euros in 2019 to 150,000 euros allocated last year.
Valentín González, the Primary Sector councillor, expressed great satisfaction with the positive response received by this funding during the Insular Wine Table event held this week at the Casa del Vino facilities in the town of El Sauzal.
González elaborated that “Through this initiative, the Cabildo aims to boost the activities of the Tenerife Designations of Origin, benefiting the island’s producers with support directed towards personnel costs, IT enhancements, training resources, informative materials, and expenses related to engaging carbon footprint certification bodies.”
The Primary Sector councillor also declared that “Our objective is to enhance this subsidy scheme for upcoming calls, thereby increasing participation levels.”
The aim of this support is to reinforce the control of origin, quality, and traceability of Tenerife wines, representing “a commitment by the Cabildo to establish a framework for supporting Tenerife producers, contributing to the advancement and consolidation of the primary sector in general, and the viticulturists in particular, as a cornerstone of the island’s economic landscape.”
