Metrotenerife has introduced ten+vao, the innovative digital platform aimed at simplifying the sharing of vehicles among students, professors, and staff members of the University of La Laguna (ULL).

This platform, developed in collaboration with Avantic, offers an alternative to ease traffic congestion, particularly on the TF-5 and TF-1 highways. The Tenerife Cabildo is working closely with various social stakeholders, institutions, and organizations to enhance mobility on the island.

The ten+vao app was honoured internationally in 2018 at the Global Light Rail Award in the categories of ‘Best environmental and sustainability initiative’ and ‘Vision of the year’.

If the app operates effectively, it could lead to a decrease of 15,000 vehicles during peak hours heading to the parking facilities at various ULL campuses, as estimated by the Corporation.

Eulalia García, the Insular Minister of Mobility and President of Metrotenerife, conducted a meeting with ULL representatives, during which Víctor Durán from Avantic, along with Rubén Franco and Javier Martín from Metrotenerife, presented the technical aspects, functionalities, and services of the application.

The meeting was attended by Pedro Ribeiro, the manager of Metrotenerife; Candela Díaz García, the Vice-Rector of Sustainability and Infrastructure at ULL; Jorge Herrera Piñero and Juan Carlos Hernández Perdomo, heads of the Service and Infrastructure division at the Information and Communication Technologies Service (ICT); and Niobé Jerez, an Information Systems technician from the Cabildo de Tenerife.
