Two underage students from La Salle school in Tenerife have taken advantage of the lack of control on the internet to create images of several schoolmates, also underage, naked from photos of them clothed. This technology is accessible to anyone with internet access and basic knowledge of using a mobile phone or a computer.

The minors used an app called ‘Undress’ to falsify the nudes of their classmates and the only requirement to access it is to log in with an email address, accept cookies and start using it.

According to a report by La Salle School in Santa Cruz, two ESO students allegedly used the photos of three classmates.

The app is free and does not need to be downloaded, it can be used directly in the web browser of a mobile phone or computer.

A warning before using it

Once you log in, the website displays a notice that is simply that, a notice. There is no age verification or control over what will be done with the photos, it simply warns about three things:

  1. You must be of legal age to enter this website
  2. You cannot use photos of other people without permission
  3. You are solely responsible for the images you generate

Skipping these three notices is as ‘difficult’ as clicking next. There is no verification that the user is of legal age or has permission from the people they proceed to ‘undress’.

Choosing the age or body type of the person to undress

Using the app is simple. You choose a photo from your gallery and the website automatically detects where there is clothing. If it doesn’t get it completely right, you can help by marking the areas to ‘undress’. “If there is still some clothing left, draw a wider outline” or “You can try any pose, but a suitable posture can greatly improve the results of the nude” are some of the tips Undress gives you while waiting for it to do its job.

Once the clothing has been replaced by a naked body, the customization begins. By paying, because yes, there is a paid version, you can choose details as unpleasant as the age of the body you want to see, the body type or whether you want the person to be naked, in lingerie, or in a bikini. It surprises absolutely no one that there is no option to see a naked man’s body, that all tips are for undressing women, and that the models that appear throughout the process are women.

This is the app that two underage individuals from a school in Santa Cruz de Tenerife used. An app that anyone can access and that allows you to choose if you want to see a naked body of a 20-year-old person, 60, or a slim or overweight person.

Porn consumption in ESO, skyrocketing

At the beginning of the year, a government report revealed that up to 70% of young people between 13 and 17 years old regularly consume porn, with 45% doing so for the first time between 12 and 15, and 30% stating that this content—generally demeaning to women—is their only source of information on sex-affective relationships. There are fears that exposing children to porn from a very young age will lead to the normalization of violent attitudesagainst their partners, as well as a “distortion of reality.” The lack of regulation of pornographic content and artificial intelligence on the Internet.

In Tenerife, a recent study by the University of La Laguna, revealed that 89% of young people on the island consume porn, with boys being bigger consumers than girls.

Are ‘apps’ that undress with AI legal?

The lawyers Júlia Bisquert and Natalia Montesinos from the law firm Carla Vall Advocates, point out that there is currently a legal void, “as these applications are so new that there has not been time to regulate them.” “In any case, the objectives for which they are being used are punishable,” the lawyers state.
