SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8th March (EUROPA PRESS) –
The authorities of the Local Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife halted a vehicle of the model ‘Renault Megane’ on Friday afternoon at the crossing of Pilar and Suárez Guerra streets, where they discovered 119 kilograms of frozen products intended for distribution to various restaurant establishments in the capital of Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna.
The driver had arranged these frozen foods in the boot and back seats of the car, including assorted cuts of chicken, beef, duck, and various fish pieces, as reported by the Local Police.
Upon confirming this potential violation concerning the transportation of perishable goods, the driver was identified, admitting that he regularly undertook such deliveries for multiple restaurants.
It was revealed through his statement that he had already supplied approximately 50 kilograms of this frozen food to stores in the municipality of Candelaria.
Given the unsuitability of the vehicle for such transportation and to mitigate any potential risks, all the goods were confiscated and relocated to a designated storage facility for such instances.
Furthermore, based on the invoices and orders provided by the offender, relevant recipients were informed of these developments.
Alongside issuing a detailed report, the law enforcement authorities forwarded this matter to the Public Health Directorate of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Transport department of the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Municipal Health service.
Subsequently, a formal complaint was lodged due to the transportation of perishable goods that require specific regulated temperatures in these circumstances.
