Santa Cruz of Tenerife has emerged as a sought-after destination for both tourists and residents on the Island, alike, shining as a symbol of high quality of life on the Spanish landscape. Boasting a population of approximately 209,395 individuals, as per data disclosed by the National Institute of Statistics for the year 2023, the capital of Tenerife is divided into five districts, each comprising its own distinct neighborhoods.

The socioeconomic structure of Santa Cruz is vividly depicted in the layout of its neighborhoods, mirroring income disparities that delineate the city’s way of life. Insights gleaned from the ‘Income Tax Statistics of filers from major municipalities by postal code’ published by the Tax Agency, shed light on the disparities between affluence and modesty in various areas.

Out of the 100,150 tax filers in the capital, an astounding sum of 2,345,261,767 euros serves as the average disposable income in the city.

The Most Affluent Neighbourhoods

The spectrum of affluence is vividly illustrated when examining the top-tier neighborhoods. Ifara, a residential gem nestled in the Centro-Ifara district, emerges as the nucleus of luxury, boasting an average gross income of 40,425 euros per capita, equating to 31,788 euros of average disposable income. Situated merely three kilometers from the city centre, this area is distinguished by its classy villas and developments, encapsulating an almost exclusive lifestyle.

In the footsteps of Ifara, neighbourhoods such as the Port, the central areas of San Vicente Ferrer with Plaza de España, as well as Avenida de la Constitución with Palmetum, stand out as havens of distinction. In these locales, the average gross income and corresponding average disposable income exhibit impressive figures:

  • Rambla de Santa Cruz-Puerto: 38,958 euros of average gross income (30,691 euros of average disposable income).
  • San Vicente Ferrer-Plaza de España: 38,403 euros of average gross income (30,198 euros of average disposable income).
  • Avenida de la Constitución-Palmetum: 37,814 euros of average gross income (29,755 euros of average disposable income).
