The Canary Islands Police Force, through the Investigation Group of the Judicial Police Office, has arrested a 44-year-old man in Tenerife as the alleged perpetrator of crimes of sexual assault on minors under sixteen years of age, exhibitionism, sexual provocation, and exploitation of minors. Additionally, he is accused of alleged production of child pornography, as he would have recorded videos of the acts he is accused of.
The police operation, codenamed ‘Cherub‘, began in early February with the statement of several young people, who are now of legal age, who confessed to their parents the sexual assaults they suffered from a family member when they were aged between 8 and 12, as reported by the Canary Islands Police on Wednesday.
After learning of the events, agents of the Canary Islands Police carried out a raid on the suspect’s residence on Tuesday and seized various electronic devices that could contain multimedia material related to the incidents.

Upon analysis of the said devices, a large number of recorded videos were recovered, allegedly by the person under investigation, which is why he is charged with the production of pornography. The agents are still reviewing the seized material.
During the investigation, the Canary Islands Police Force acted in coordination with the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The judicial authority has ordered the detainee to be remanded in custody, while the investigation remains ongoing and all recovered material continues to be analysed.
