The mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez (PP); the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Employment, Adolfo Gonzalez, and the territorial director in the Canary Islands of Don Bosco Foundation, Miguel Angel Rojas, presented this Friday, November 5, 2021 ‘Los Realejos Suma’, a set of three socio-labor intervention projects financed entirely by the Consistory, which contributes 118,957 euros. The initiative will be launched from next week and will last until the end of 2022.

Domínguez stressed that “the priority objectives of this initiative are to improve the social and employment prospects of the royal citizenry who are in a vulnerable situation; to give new opportunities to young people in the municipality who, due to early abandonment of studies, demotivation or other problems they need a boost to reorient their lives; and also to create the first network of professional agents that broaden and visualize much better the range of public and private resources that currently exist to work in a more coordinated and efficient way ”.

Adolfo Gonzalez He added that “during this year 2021 we have been working with the Don Bosco Foundation to make this agreement a reality, which we are sure will mean a considerable improvement in the social and labor benefits offered by the municipality.” In addition, the high degree of satisfaction obtained from the projects previously developed in the town by the Don Bosco Foundation stands out, “and how good results it has given.”

One of the objectives is to give new opportunities to young people in the municipality who, due to early abandonment of studies, demotivation or other problems, need a boost to reorient their lives

The Councilor for Employment He added that “this initiative will complement the three OPEA orientation points that we already have in the town with other social entities such as Hopscotch for children under 30 years of age; Domitila Hernández Association for vulnerable groups, and Generation 21 for long-term unemployed people; the guidance service that Fundación Don Bosco already develops in the Local Development Agency (ADL), and the imminent start of the project We put for youth of Cabildo of Tenerife which will begin shortly at the Casa de La Parra Cultural Space ”.

According Dominguez, “This comprehensive strategy of socio-labor intervention is in line with the creation and development of complementary employment policies that, not being the direct competence of the municipalities, we will continue to bet on promoting from the local government of Realejero for the better preparation and motivation of our citizens and making all possible tools available to facilitate access or consolidation in the workplace “.

Rojas shelled the three projects of this comprehensive social and labor intervention strategy, which foresee the incorporation of two insertion technicians and two specialist trainers, who will be in charge of developing them.

A career guidance service will be offered that pursues skills training through different qualification or technical training actions. This resource will be based in Toscal Longuera’s Social Work Unit and will be aimed at unemployed people throughout the municipality in vulnerable situations. It is estimated that it will serve around a hundred unemployed neighbors.

The youth pre-employment school will have its campus in the sociocultural center of The mountain and it will give sessions aimed at promoting motivation based on interest, with sessions aimed at detecting areas of self-efficacy, pre-employment experiences related to the world of work and the acquisition of technical skills, as well as key skills through compensation actions will be addressed educational. Initially, 16 places are proposed, although according to the itineraries that its young participants follow, they will rotate and another 16 people will be able to benefit during the life of the project. It is intended that they start a personalized itinerary of insertion through the educational return or the resumption of their participation in an employment project.

The network of agents for social and labor insertion sIt is proposed as “a pioneering technical coordination space made up of agents from the educational, employment and social welfare systems of the municipality of Los Realejos”. It will be responsible for analyzing the needs of unemployed people in vulnerable situations, a map of services will be built, the responses of the services present, the possible absence of some or the over-endowment of others will be analyzed, and shared skills analysis tools will be designed. Its objective is “to identify the real difficulties suffered by youth and other vulnerable people for their full social and labor inclusion.”
