Andrés Agustín Miranda Hernández, born in 1934 in the capital of Tenerife and serving as president of the Cabildo of Tenerife from April 1971 to January 1974, has sadly passed away at the age of 90, as announced by the island corporation this Saturday.
Rosa Dávila, the current president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, has expressed her deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Andrés Miranda, who also held a position as a councilor of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council from 1967 to 1970.
During his career, in 1971, he served as the general director of Pharmacy in Madrid and was a solicitor in the Cortes before being appointed as the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, a role he fulfilled until January 1974.
In 1982, he became a member of Alianza Popular, representing the party in the Canary Islands Parliament until 1986. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the prestigious Tenerife Gold Medal in 2002.
His involvement extended to participating in the Centennial commemoration events of the Island Councils in 2013. Furthermore, in 2014, a biography chronicling his life titled ‘Memorias Andrés Miranda Hernández’, published by LeCanarien editions, was released.
