SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2nd Mar (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Saturday, the Canary Islands Coalition of Tenerife hosted its inaugural Convention for public servants. The event saw the gathering of all the mayors, councillors, island councilors, directors, deputies, and officials from the Government of the Canary Islands who are part of the Tenerife nationalists.

Over 300 individuals attended the meeting, with around 260 being political officials. The aim was to “discuss crucial matters for Tenerife and the Canary Islands, in a day dedicated to teamwork, debating strategies, setting priorities, and reaffirming the vision and values that led us to achieve great results in the last local elections.”

“This initial Meeting of Public Servants of the Canary Islands Coalition of Tenerife marks the conclusion of a challenging journey from being in opposition to taking on the responsibility of leading different governments,” stated the island’s secretary general, Francisco Linares. He mentioned that after spending four years in opposition at both insular and regional levels, the nationalists are once again setting the political agenda, paving the way for necessary progress in both Tenerife and the Canary Islands.

“Under the leadership of Fernando Clavijo as the president of the Canary Islands and general secretary of our party, we have a highly proficient team in Tenerife with Rosa Dávila at the forefront of the island’s primary institution, making her the first female president of the Island Council of Tenerife,” highlighted Linares.

The party, as affirmed by the Mayor of La Orotava, “is now more robust than ever, despite many believing we were finished after the 2019 elections. We currently boast over 12,000 members in Tenerife, signifying the strength of the organisation on the island, as we have consistently advocated for what is rightfully ours.

“Even though we were mainly in the opposition in various institutions during the previous term, we remained active, working for our constituents. This is evidenced by the organization of more than 115 meetings, which helped sustain the party’s presence and restore pride to Tenerife and the Canary Islands,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, the national secretary general and President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, affirmed that this initial meeting will tackle crucial matters regarding Tenerife and the Canary Islands’ future. “The convention provides an avenue for public officials to exchange experiences, share ideas, and establish synergies to confront contemporary societal challenges. Collaborative efforts between institutions, as well as local committees, are indispensable, resulting in effective governance,” he stated.

“Seize this convention as an opportunity to reassert our commitment to the party’s principles and the defence of Tenerife and the Canary Islands, as we continue collaborating closely with all segments of society to forge a more prosperous, inclusive, and fair future for all,” highlighted the nationalist leader.

Rosa Dávila, the Secretary of Organisation and President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, stressed that the primary aim of this inaugural Convention is “to bring together all the positions of the Canarian Coalition of Tenerife under one roof for a day of interaction and work. This will allow us to enhance our relationships, making it easier to collaborate based on individual responsibilities.

In addition to collaboration, Dávila insisted, “we must underscore that we are the essential political force needed to reconstruct this island and archipelago after four years of stagnation, leadership vacuum, and standstill.

“This gathering marks the end of a challenging journey from opposition to assuming responsibility for leading different governments. A meeting to discuss strategies, identify priorities, and reinforce the vision and values that led us to electoral triumph,” highlighted the insular nationalist president.

“Our party holds representation in every municipality of Tenerife. We are a vibrant party, with a strong influence. Despite being in opposition, we sustained a solid structure, as our members are our greatest asset,” noted Dávila.
