SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2nd Mar (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Poli Suárez, along with his entire team, gathered this Saturday with the School Council of the Canary Islands to discuss the state of education in the islands and introduce the strategic directions of his department for the current term.
Suárez was determined to continue integrating the input of this council regarding issues such as reducing ratios, enhancing educational facilities, school canteens or after-school activities, in addition to designing the new island map for Vocational Training. He also advocated for municipal councils to allocate a portion of their funding from the Canary Islands Municipal Financing Fund towards the renovation, expansion, and enhancement of educational institutions.
The Council, the principal advisory and participatory body on educational affairs in the Canary Islands, led by Natalia Álvarez, consists of representatives spanning various sectors in the educational realm, including personnel, unions, families, students, businesses, Cabildos, City Councils, as well as other entities and prominent figures.
In attendance with the minister were the deputy councillors of Education and Vocational Training and Professional Qualifications, José Manuel Cabrera and Francisco Rodríguez, respectively; the General Secretary, Manuel Peinado, along with the directors of Personnel and Teacher Training; Teaching Organization, Inclusion, and Innovation; Center Administration, Enrolment, and Supplementary Services; Educational Infrastructure and Equipment; along with Vocational Training and Special Education Regime and Professional Qualifications, encompassing Mónica Ramirez, David Pablos, Carolina León, Iván González, Ainhoa Molina, and Alfredo Espinosa. Also present was the head of the Canarian Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE), José Saturnino Martínez.
