Tension filled the Tenerife Councilduring its latest plenary session. Right after unanimously passing measures against drought, when Rosa Dávila called for applause, two activists burst in shouting, demanding action against mass tourism and chanting “Listen to the people, Canaries say enough”.

An uncomfortable situation for the president of the island Council, Rosa Dávila, who handled the situation effectively amidst constant interruptions from one of the individuals who had entered during the session.

The tone shifted from mild to intense, discussing the water emergency, climate change, and our islands’ tourism model, questioning whether measures regarding water in Tenerife would also be implemented in tourist municipalities.

In response to this, a recess was agreed during the plenary session to resolve the tension created at the Council.
