On the Rosario highway near Casa Cuna, local Police officers discovered a home delivery van belonging to a popular supermarket chain carrying perishable, fresh, and frozen products. The items were stored in thermal bags with ice packs, similar to those used in coolers for the beach, according to police sources.
The van, not equipped to transport refrigerated goods, was stopped by the local officers. Upon inspection, it was found that the van was carrying fresh and frozen products together in improper conditions as they must be maintained within a temperature range of 0 to 4 degrees Celsius. “While the ice packs were keeping the food cool, the freezing chain for frozen items had already been compromised during transportation,” detailed the sources.
Additionally, it was noted that the products were missing proper labelling for perishable goods, and the van lacked the necessary certificate of conformity from the Cabildo de Tenerife to transport frozen goods. Subsequently, the van was immobilised, the products sealed, and a complaint was filed, which has been forwarded to the insular Corporation.
After uncovering this violation in the delivery van, the local Police officers questioned the supermarket delivery driver. The driver justified the improper transportation by stating that it was a delivery near the location of interception.
This marks the second complaint by the Local Police within a fortnight against food delivery vans.
