The Tenerife Island Council, through the Mobility department, has modified the priority at bus stops for Titsa on both the North Highway (TF-5) and the South Highway (TF-1), changing the road markings, a total of 23 give way signs. The Mobility Councillor, Eulalia García, explains that this measure helps to improve the visibility of bus drivers and the flow of public transport as “buses have priority when merging onto highways, avoiding excessive delays and improving mobility.”

The criteria followed for the removal of the give way signs is determined by their technical viability. In this way, all priorities at junctions with a favorable technical report have been modified. This also results in greater efficiency in managing public transport.

The removal of give way signs at stops along the two highways is part of a comprehensive mobility improvement plan for the island.

Other Measures

This mobility enhancement is complemented by other measures taken by the island council to address traffic issues, such as restricting heavy vehicles during peak hours, enhancing public transport by updating the Titsa fleet, hiring new drivers, implementing university shuttles, reducing the travel limit for free transport, the Insular Sustainable Mobility Plan, and signing agreements with Ashotel and the University of La Laguna, among others.
