The promoter of the La Tejita hotel indicates that the construction work resumed this Monday has all the necessary licenses and authorizations for its development on the entirety of the plot, “as confirmed by the three judgments of the First Section of the Administrative Litigation Division of the Superior Court of Justice of Canarias” (TSJC), which confirm the legality of the project and that “the permits are valid, effective and legitimize its execution,” points out the Viqueira Group.
With this, they aim to “dispel any doubts regarding the possibility of not being able to carry out the work in the coastal-public land zone, since, they argue, “the urban planning authorization and license were in accordance with the demarcation of the existing coastal land zone at the time of its granting (2018) and emphasize that “the subsequent demarcation cannot affect the licenses already granted”.
In this sense, the developer recalls that the works have all the required legal titles to be carried out on the entire plot, and that the approved modification of the demarcation “does not make them illegal”.
Yesterday, in addition, the mayor of Granadilla de Abona, Jennifer Miranda, acknowledged that with the pronouncement of the TSJC, “the precautionary cessation order issued by the Government of Canarias through the Environmental Protection Agency is null and void”. In statements to Radio Club Tenerife, the mayor made it clear that she “would prefer there not to be a hotel” in Costabella, near La Tejita beach.
Miranda said that the previous Government of Canarias halted the purchase of the land where the hotel stands, valued at 25 million euros, “due to the elections“, “and reached an agreement with Viqueira” to pay it in three installments, confirmed the councilor who handled the procedure, José Antonio Valbuena. Miranda urges the current Canarian Government to finalize the purchase.
