A dozen photos, a portrait, a peace dove, flowers, and several protest signs. This is the tribute that a corner of the Victims of Terrorism Plaza in Santa Cruz deTenerife pays to Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition to President Vladimir Putin, who was found dead in an Arctic prison on the 16th of this month.

“We demand that Putin be recognised as an illegitimate president,” says one sign, while another accuses the Russian president of ordering Navalny’s murder.
The flowers, photos, and signs were placed last Saturday at this central point in the Tenerife capital during a demonstration denouncing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which marked its second anniversary that day, where Navalny’s figure was remembered, having previously been poisoned in mysterious circumstances.
