Described as a “romantic rental”, a rooftop campsite in Santa Cruz of Tenerife is causing a stir among the locals. The issue began when a new owner purchased the property at an auction and subsequently put it up for rent. It’s reported that up to 15 people have stayed in this unique campsite.
After almost two years of waiting for a response, today the police intervened and declared the situation as illegal and hazardous.
The City Council has issued an order for the activity to cease, much to the surprise of the room occupants who were unaware of the existence of the tents.
These accommodations are being rented out at a ridiculously low price of 12 euros, posing a potential challenge to traditional vacation offers on the islands.
