SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 19th Feb (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Canary Islands has initiated the selective process for the annual call for 2023 to fill new Local Police positions, with the publication of the rules in the official newsletters of both provinces regarding the resolution of the General Directorate of Studies, Training, and Research in Security.

In order to enhance the efficiency of the selection process, the Ministry has implemented changes in the regulations to reduce the overall procedure’s timelines without compromising legal guarantees, thereby enabling town councils to swiftly incorporate the new local police officers into their workforce.

The objective of this call is to fill a total of 74 positions in 21 municipalities of the Canary Islands through a merit-based selection process for the Local Police Class, Basic Scale, Group C, Subgroup C1.

This process is carried out in accordance with the Cooperation Agreement between the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Public Administrations, Justice, and Security, and the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (FECAM), which facilitates the delegation of powers from the municipalities to participate in the selection processes for access to the Local Police Corps.

By conducting these selective processes, the Government is addressing a recurring issue in numerous municipalities of the Canary Islands, streamlining the often prolonged and complex procedures for filling vacancies in the Local Police forces.

The allocated positions are distributed as follows: four in Teguise and three in Tías (Lanzarote); sixteen in Tacoronte, three in Güímar; seven in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and twelve in Arona (Tenerife); one in Teror, one in Vega de San Mateo, three in Agaete, two in Arucas, and two in Valleseco (Gran Canaria); one in San Andrés y Sauces, four in Los Llanos de Aridane, one in Tazacorte, four in El Paso, and two in Santa Cruz de La Palma (La Palma); one in Agulo, one in Vallehermoso, two in Hermigua, and two in Valle Gran Rey (La Gomera), as well as two in Tuineje (Fuerteventura).
