SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18th February (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Directorate of Emergencies, representing the Government of the Canary Islands, has announced the declaration of a wind alert in El Hierro, effective from 3:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19th.
This decision has been made based on the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other reliable sources. It is also in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
Consequently, moderate to strong northeasterly winds are anticipated along the coast, east, southeast, midlands, and summits, with an average speed of 25-50 km/h and very likely very strong gusts exceeding 80-100 km/h. The most intense gusts are forecasted in the high areas and the northern slope of the island, particularly in the Gulf Valley.
The general public is strongly advised to adhere to the self-protection guidelines provided by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies.
