The first plenary session of the year 2024 for the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna is scheduled to be held next Tuesday at the former convent of Santo Domingo. It will involve the presentation and approval of the public events and activities calendar by all forum members, as well as the various publications to be produced throughout the year by professionals from diverse fields, with active involvement from the university community.
Preceding this session, the Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, convened a working meeting with the Permanent Commission of the FES to coordinate the schedule of conferences, reports, activities, and publications planned for the year.
Within the scope of this meeting, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez expressed his appreciation for “the work carried out by the FES members over the past year, addressing the primary concerns of La Laguna’s population, conducting practical assessments of the current situation, and organizing insightful training sessions benefiting both the general public and the Corporation’s members.”
The technical director of the Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna, Jordi Bercedo, emphasized that “the events proposed for this year will be the most ambitious in the forum’s history, signifying the organization’s solidification within the municipality and its establishment as a prominent figure for various citizen sectors.”
The month’s calendar prepared by the FES will conclude on February 29 with the event titled ‘Rare diseases, a constant challenge’. This gathering will facilitate the analysis and discussion on the status of these rare pathologies, which affect 7% of the global population, involving contributions from representatives of the medical sector, the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases, as well as individuals directly affected by or having close family members affected by rare diseases, including former professional CB Canarias player, Francisco Javier Lafuente ‘Chiche la Fuente’.
Admission for this event is entirely free, subject to seat availability, and can be requested via email at [email protected]. The event will commence at 5:00 p.m. at the old convent of Santo Domingo, coinciding with the observance of World Rare Disease Day.
The following forum event is planned for March 18, focusing on the economic analysis of the first quarter of the 21st century and hosting experts from national, regional, and local levels.
