Santa Cruz of Tenerife bids farewell this upcoming Sunday, February 18 to the most crowded festival in the Canary Islands with an event that will culminate the grand celebration.
Commencing at 4:30 p.m., the Plaza de la Candelaria will be the venue for the first edition of the Canary Islands Senior Carnival, organized by the City Council of the capital and the Department of Social Welfare of the Canary Islands Government, with hopes of making this an annual gathering.
The Decada Prodigiosa and Orquesta Tenerife will provide the entertainment for an afternoon filled with humour, hosted by Maestro Florido. Approximately 400 seniors from all the islands are expected to attend.
The Senior Carnival will culminate around 7:30 p.m. to make way for the performance of the Banda Loca orchestra, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On Sunday morning, the Plaza del Príncipe will showcase concerts by the Afilarmónica Ni Fú ni Fá and La Zarzuela, at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. respectively.
Theme for the 2025 Santa Cruz Carnival
The Festival’s conclusion also includes a fireworks display to bid farewell. It is at this moment when the chosen theme for the next edition, voted by the public, will be revealed.
The citizens of the Canaries have taken charge of choosing between four themes: Ancient Greece, Secrets of Africa, Kingdom of Ice or Technological Japan. The voting closed last Monday and upon its revelation this Sunday, more details about the next edition will be unveiled.
