What’s the Weather Forecast for Sunday in the Canary Islands?

The State Meteorological Agency has issued a yellow warning for very strong northeast gusts on the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands this Sunday.

Partly cloudy or clear with intervals in low-lying areas of the north of the mountainous islands. Calima spreading from east to west from midday.

Temperatures unchanged or slightly rising in low-lying areas, more pronounced in the west of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and slightly decreasing in inland areas.

Trade wind will be strong with occasional very strong gusts on the northwest and southeast slopes of the most mountainous islands, turning to easterly winds in midlands and summits from early hours.

At sea, there will be northeast winds force 5 to 7, locally 4 near the northeast coast. Strong swell. In the southwest coast, variable 1 to 3 and rippled. Northwest swell increasing to 2 to 3 meters in the north.

SUNDAY FORECAST BY ISLANDS:

Clear with intervals in low-lying areas of the north during the first half of the day. Calima from midday. Temperatures unchanged or slightly rising in low-lying areas, and slightly decreasing in inland areas. Moderate northeast wind, becoming strong with occasional very strong gusts on southeast and northwest slopes during the first half of the day. Possible very strong gusts in exposed summits and in the Tejeda basin during the early morning.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 18 25

LANZAROTE

Clear with some morning intervals in the north. Calima from midday. Temperatures with little change, except for a rise in maximums in the west. Moderate northeast wind with strong intervals.

Arrecife 17 25

FUERTEVENTURA

Clear with some morning intervals in the north. Calima from midday. Temperatures unchanged or slightly rising, more pronounced in the western slope. Moderate northeast wind with strong intervals.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C):

Puerto del Rosario 18 23

Clear with intervals of low clouds in the northeast and north. Calima from the afternoon. Temperatures unchanged or slightly rising in low-lying areas, and slightly decreasing in inland areas. Trade wind, strong with very strong gusts on southeast and northwest slopes, decreasing in the afternoon.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C):

Santa Cruz de Tenerife 19 24

Clear with intervals in low-lying areas of the north. Slight calima from the afternoon. Little change in temperatures. Trade wind, strong with very strong gusts on southeast and northwest slopes and exposed summits, decreasing in the afternoon.

San Sebastián de la Gomera 18 23

Little change in temperatures. Trade wind, strong with very strong gusts on southeast and northwest slopes.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C):

Santa Cruz de la Palma 17 23

Clear with intervals in low-lying areas of the north. Slight calima from the afternoon. Little change in temperatures. Trade wind, strong with very strong gusts on southeast and northwest slopes.

EXPECTED MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C):

Valverde 16 21
