Yesterday, the Canarian Coalition in Arico criticized the local government’s lack of planning in regulating the situation of motorhomes along the municipality’s coast, particularly in the coastal areas of Abades, Jaca, Poris, and María Luisa Cove.
Víctor García, the spokesperson for the Canary Coalition in the municipality, voiced his concerns about “the unchecked parking of caravans on our coast, causing problems that the City Council has failed to address with any measures.”
García pointed out that “the City Council has not explored any alternatives to prevent motorhomes from parking on the beachfront. As a result, people, including those with reduced mobility, are unable to access the beaches, shops, and restaurants due to vehicles parking on sidewalks or the road.”
He lamented, “This highlights the ineffective management of the local government and its mayor, who has not tackled the mobility issue on the municipality’s coast.”
Furthermore, he criticized “the insufficient resources provided for the Security area to control this problem,” and noted that the Canarian Coalition “has not effectively managed this area in recent years.”
García proposed delineating a specific area for caravans and providing a designated parking area for these vehicles. He emphasized the importance of drafting and implementing an ordinance to regulate camping, a measure promised by the Canarian Coalition in the last municipal elections program.
