This year marks a special celebration for the Gran Canarian group The Gofiones, as they take their anniversary tour to prestigious theatres across Spain with the support of the Culture Department of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At present, three venues are confirmed, and in the coming days, the group will perform “55 Years Tour” at the Teatro Zorrilla in Valladolid on February 17, at the Teatro Calderón in Madrid on Saturday, February 18, and at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna in June.
The collaboration agreement between the Culture Department through City Promotion of Las Palmas City of Gran Canaria and Los Gofiones will showcase the city’s name alongside the group. This was confirmed by the Culture Councillor, Adrián Santana, and the President of Los Gofiones, José Afonso, during a media briefing on Wednesday, February 14th.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is undeniably linked to Los Gofiones, and will also feature in the group’s communication strategy, including the logo of the City Council in all promotional material for the tour, as well as in all performances throughout the tour.

Furthermore, the musical group will showcase the video “Las Palmas que tú quieres” during their shows, a video clip that revives the song by Sindo Saavedra, reinterpreted by Los Gofiones and dedicated to the city. They first presented it to the enthusiastic audience at the roots music event “Musicando” in October 2023.

The forty members of the group will carry the cultural and musical richness of the Archipelago throughout Spain, along with their affinity for the connections between the Canary Islands and Latin America. They will perform their timeless classics, their previous hits, and the latest songs from a career dedicated to promoting popular Canarian music, which involves not only reviving and creating songs, but also conducting research into the past and the relationships that the Canaries have maintained with other communities around the world.
The tour marks five decades of achievement, during which they have released 22 albums and collaborated on another twenty. This tour will continue to add to the more than a thousand venues that the group has performed at in the Canary Islands, as well as on the Iberian Peninsula and in the Americas.
