The 13th of Tuesday did not turn out to be a disaster for the Orotava Carnival. Yesterday, the town witnessed a spectacular and magnificent carnival gathering, with over 20,000 individuals participating on a delightful summery afternoon. The procession, commencing from Cruz del Teide and culminating in Plaza de la Paz in Calvario, witnessed the participation of over fifty carnival groups including comparsas, murgas, fanfares, rondallas, and choreographic groups from the northern region of Tenerife, alongside numerous spontaneous groups and friends. The procession was graced by the Queen of the 2024 Carnival of La Orotava, Yanira González Morales, adorned in the allegory “The Most Beautiful in the World” designed by Alfonso Baute from Orotava.
Among the participating groups were murgas such as Virgueritos, Trinkosos, Pizzicatos, Minivirgues, Más que Potras, Las Negritas.com, Las Chaladas, Los Tiralenguas, Las Deslenguadas, Los Retornados, Ferruquentitos, and Ferrusquentos. Also present were the rondalla Volcanoes of Teide, and the fanfares Peña El Casco, Los Realejos, Santa Catalina, and Puerto de la Cruz. The troupe and batucadas including the Villeros, Ritmo Batukeiro, Carabao Wayama, Batucada Barabere, and Ritmo del Viento made a vibrant appearance. The procession also featured choreographic groups such as Wild Dance, Vicente Oramas Díaz, and Toy de la Villa, along with costume groups, themed floats, and background music.
The procession also saw the parade of disco buses, decorated cars, and floats with the bridesmaids. The Mayor, Francisco Linares, and the Mayor of Fiestas, Alexis Pacheco, alongside other members of the municipal Corporation, were also part of the grand gathering, which was preceded by a vintage car rally.
