Pushing for youth employment through Vocational Training with a special focus on Dual education is the commitment of Tenerife Island Council, as explained by its president, Rosa Dávila, during a visit to CIFP Virgen de Candelaria, the temple of Vocational Training on the island. Dávila was accompanied by the second vice president, José Miguel Ruano, and the Employment and Education councillor, Efraín Medina. The director of the educational center, Julián Fariña, welcomed the island’s embassy. Dávila showed willingness to collaborate through the various educational programs that the island’s Corporation has launched.
“This center offers us a lot of opportunities in the different branches and areas of Vocational Training, one of the great commitments made by the Council through the Education department,” Dávila stated.
The president highlighted the work of her councillor, Efraín Medina, along with the island’s centers, “in order to give a renewed boost to promote the employment of the younger people who need an opportunity”. She concluded: “Through formal education, combined with our programs, we can give that renewed boost to promote youth employment”.
During the meeting, the director received information about all the educational projects developed by the Tenerife Island Council, from which both students and teachers can benefit. In this sense, Julián Fariña thanked the institutional visit and stressed that “Virgen de Candelaria has to open up, and that’s why we are participating in all the actions that give value to the institution and bring out the best professionals”.

Efraín Medina, on his part, emphasized the importance of the language immersion scholarship program, as well as the mobility of students and teachers through the Erasmus Plus program. Similarly, he highlighted the Ponos employment project, which seeks to promote labor integration among young people, positively influencing their personal skills through orientation sessions, tailored training, and integration scholarships.

Eighty years witness the Virgen de Candelaria, a history of education in Tenerife. Mechanics, designers, tour guides, administrative staff, chefs, Physical Education teachers… The list of professions is extensive and the cold figures hide how thousands of Canarians, enough to almost complete three generations, have found their place in the job market after training in the classrooms of the educational center in the Ofra neighbourhood. Located at 144 Carretera General de El Rosario, in a block of 20,000 square meters, facing that road and Príncipes de España avenue, there lies the factory of trades or the temple of Vocational Training on the island.
