Apprehension, symbolizing this year’s festivities, and entertainment, an essential aspect of the Carnival, converged yesterday at the Apoteósico Arena of Los Realejos. This event is among the most eagerly anticipated and participative days of the Carnival, enjoyed by both adults and children alike.
As tradition dictates, the procession set off after 5:00 p.m. from the Tigaiga area, weaving through Realejo Bajo towards San Agustín before culminating near the Casa de las Artes.
Upon completing the route, the Plaza de San Agustín came alive with dancing to the live music of Grupo LD and the Corinto Band Orchestra. Vamos y la liamos took charge of the youthful area near La Virgen Street, where the music continued well into the night.
The City Council orchestrated a substantial logistical operation, overseen primarily by the Department of Festivals, with support from the municipal departments of Security and Emergencies. This involved personnel from the Local Police, as well as the voluntary Protection bodies, Civil Defence, and the town’s Firefighters, alongside staff from the municipal services company Realserv, all playing a vital role in the preparations, execution, and subsequent return to normality.
Carnival Monday holds a special significance in Los Realejos, attracting residents from other municipalities who transform into an array of characters for the Coso Apoteosis. This event, being the first of its kind, has now set the standard.
