The ship of the Swedish Navy School, HMS Gladan, is set to make an unofficial stopover at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife tomorrow, coming from several ports in the Canary Islands since November.

This impressive vessel, managed by Tenerife Offshore & Shipping Agency, was constructed in the 1940s alongside its twin, HMS Falken, and measures 40 meters in length, 7.20 meters in width, with a draft of 4.20 meters.

It will be docking at the Los Llanos Dock with a crew of 47 members and officers on board, and will remain on the Island until Thursday, February 15, when it will depart for the port of San Sebastián de la Gomera, where it will also spend two days.

Following its visit to La Gomera, it will proceed to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and then to Portugal, before returning to its military base in Sweden.

Since 2006, this training sailboat has been visiting the Islands to take advantage of its favourable climate, spending a few months in the ports for docking and undocking exercises for the cadets, as well as engaging in sea exercises during its journey. During this period, the crew also takes part in visits and excursions around the Islands to immerse themselves in the local culture and gastronomy.
