Arona City Council and the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna (ULL) have entered into a collaboration agreement to carry out the fourth edition of ARN Innova (a program of activities to promote business innovation in the municipality), aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and enhancing the knowledge of the residents of Arona in the field of science and technology. It will run until December 31, 2026, with the council allocating 417,500 euros for the initiative.
The first of the projects that will be carried out is the ARN Innova Laboratory, which aims to provide knowledge and tools to the people of Arona (especially at a young age) to enhance their creativity and interest in science and technology. This task will be undertaken by researchers from ULL and will involve the educational community (teachers, students, and families) in the development of the municipality. Created to provide specific actions at the Business Centre of Las Galletas, the good results obtained in the first three editions, with over 5,000 beneficiaries in six years, will now be extended to the entire municipality in the fourth edition.
Arona Emprende is the second specific project designed to promote and support entrepreneurs through training activities and guidance. The activities are also aimed at the citizens of Arona with university or Vocational Training qualifications. It will carry out activities to promote entrepreneurial development, improve business specialization and qualification, and provide entrepreneurial interest encounters and spaces.
The ARN Innova Science and Technology Laboratory will conduct over 250 scientific workshops; the Summer Science and Technology Laboratory, a three-day event with workshops, talks, and cross-cutting training for students in the month of July, and two editions of the Arona Junior Scientists School Project competition. ARN Tech is an activity that provides support for those over 16, imparting the necessary tools and content about the use of new technologies that will aid in the development of future business ideas. Additionally, it will feature 30 new chapters of the informative series Virtual Laboratory Connects Cienci@ULL and will include the annual celebration of the Arona Science Festival, a two-day scientific outreach event held at the beginning of each school year.
