A woman insulted and threatened some workers who were working on a municipal project in the heights of the municipality of La Victoria, in the north of Tenerife. “I don’t care about cutting off your neck,” the neighbour with a machete in her right hand tells one of the workers, angry that the workers had closed a street leading to her house to carry out emergency municipal work to improve public services.

The incident occurred a few weeks ago in the upper part of Los Arroyos, in La Victoria. It was a project to improve the water supply network in the heights of La Victoria and reduce high levels of fluoride in tap water, which causes frequent supply restrictions. The video has now gone viral through WhatsApp.

Municipal sources state that closing the street was necessary to improve the water supply

Municipal sources consulted by EL DÍA stated that the street closure was necessary to carry out the work, and that the woman and other residents in the area had an alternative route to access their homes that only slightly delayed the journey.

Nevertheless, despite the patient explanations from the workers, the woman got out of the car with a machete and started hurling all kinds of insults at the workers. “Would you do this to a woman? They are all a bunch of cowards,” “the damn Town Hall doesn’t pay me anything,” “don’t talk to me about those councillors, they are a bunch of idiots”… are some of the insults from the woman, who ironically asked the worker, who responded politely throughout, “Watch your language.”

The woman eventually got back into the vehicle with the machete without the situation escalating, although the workers had to endure her insults and threats during their working day.
