Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to welcome a new public swimming pool at the Miguel Pintor Early Childhood and Primary Education School (CEIP) on José Martí Avenue in the La Alegría neighborhood. An investment of 295,000 euros will be made for the conditioning of the pool and beach area, as well as the creation of changing rooms. The addition of this pool will provide another option for the citizens, in addition to the current Acidalio Lorenzo and Dácil Cabrera pools in Añaza, the upcoming pool in Las Retamas, and the future Go fit sports pavilion planned for 2025.
Alicia Cebrián, the Councilor for Sports, announced that once the pool is completed, it will be open for public use in addition to federated swimming. The 2024 budget for the area has been increased to almost seven million euros, allowing for bonuses to be offered for those who want to swim outside of school hours.

Cebrián highlighted that maintenance work will be carried out at the Acidalio Lorenzo pool, with plans to minimize closures to allow citizens to access the facilities even on weekends. There are also plans for renovation and improvement of the changing rooms at this facility. Furthermore, funding will be allocated for various works and improvements at sports facilities, including the Taganana sports center and Ana Bautista pavilion. Accessibility projects for the Pancho Suárez terrero and the Acidalio Lorenzo swimming pool are also on the agenda for 2024.
Another major project for 2024 is the comprehensive renovation of the Pancho Camurria land and El Sobradillo soccer field. Additionally, works are planned for the improvement of several other facilities, including the Las Delicias court, Dácil Cabrera pavilion, and Las Retamas center. There are also plans for a new sports space at Los Gladiolos, featuring the first Pump Track in the capital, with a contribution from the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo.

The budget also includes funds for facility maintenance contracts, cleaning sports facilities, opening and closing of courts, and physical-sports activities through the Santa Cruz train program.
