During the festivities of the street Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the City Council recently showcased its cleaning efforts involving over 120 workers and specialized machinery to ensure the swift restoration of the city’s streets to their pre-Carnival state.

Javier Caraballero, the Councilor for Festivals, emphasized the council’s commitment to hosting an eco-friendly Carnival, with an array of facilities and measures in place, including 200 portable toilets, 10 urinal islands, 20 additional units for the fair, as well as designated facilities for the Carnival Hospital and Parade, totaling 265 bathrooms. Additionally, the council aims to sell 15,000 glasses at a minimum price of one euro, due to the strict ban on single-use plastics to reduce waste generation.

Meanwhile, Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services, urged the public in a recent Herrera in Cope interview to uphold civility, stressing that public urinals are provided for this purpose. He emphasized that municipal regulations remain in effect during Carnival, and anyone caught urinating in public will face a fine of 750 euros imposed by the Local Police.
