Unión Artística El Cabo emerges triumphant in the rondallas event at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival

On Sunday night, the Unión Artística El Cabo rondalla clinched the coveted First Prize for Interpretation at the Rondallas Contest of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival hosted in the Tenerife Auditorium.

The Rondalla Lyric Group Asociación Mamels secured the second position, while Las Valkirias de la Lírica took third place.

Tenerife Coral Mass attained the runner-up position in this category, as reported by the City Council.

As for the Presentation segment, the top honours were claimed by Las Valkirias, followed by Unión Artística El Cabo and the third spot went to Orfeón La Paz.

The Rondalla Lyric Group Asociación Mamels were awarded the second prize in this section.

Vicky López, the soloist of Las Valkirias de la Lírica, secured the first prize in the soloists’ category for her rendition of the third work, The Traviata.

Javier Hernández, the soloist from Unión Artística El Cabo, clinched the second prize, while Roger Gutiérrez, also from El Cabo rondalla, secured the third position.

Beatriz Rodríguez Sivero, a member of the La Rondalla Lyric Group Asociación Mamels, emerged as the runner-up in this category.

El Cabo Artistic Union emerged victorious in the Pulso y Púa category. Furthermore, this rondalla presents its own accolade annually for the best musical arrangement, outside of the official awards, and this year, by the jury’s decision, it was conferred upon El Cabo’s rondalla.

Orfeón La Paz, Masa Coral Tinerfeña, La Rondalla Lyric Group Mamels Association, Peña del Lunes 1965, Unión Artística El Cabo, Las Valkirias, and Gran Tinerfe were the participating rondallas this year, in that order, at the contest held in the Tenerife Adán Martín Auditorium.

Each group had a maximum of 30 minutes to perform their lyrical repertoires.

The jury responsible for determining the contest’s winners in the Interpretation section comprised of Pedro Chamorro, a professor of plectrum instruments at the Arturo Soria Conservatory of Music in Madrid, a doctor of Arts, concert pianist, and composer; Celia Laguna Davia, a choral director and professor of Vocal Repertoire at the Federico Moreno Tórroba Conservatory; and Montserrat Giró (Montserrat García Ruiz), a lyrical singer.

The Presentation section’s jury included Teresa Hernández Quesada, a textile technician and clothing maker; Rudymar (Rudy del Mar Medina Leal), a graduate in Fashion Design; and Mauricio Pérez Jiménez, a professor of Fine Arts specializing in photography and design, and a sculptor.
