The Cabo Artistic Union rondalla has emerged victorious, securing the coveted first prize for Interpretation at the Rondallas Competition held at the Auditorium of Tenerife Adán Martín.The Rondalla Lyric Group Mamels Association clinched second place, followed by The Valkyries of the Lyric in third place. The Tenerife Coral Mass secured the second prize in this category.

In the Presentation section, Las Valkirias claimed the top spot, with Unión Artística El Cabo following closely in second place, and Orfeón La Paz securing the third position. The Rondalla Lyric Group Asociación Mamels received the second prize in this category.

The first prize in the soloists section was awarded to Vicky López of Las Valkirias de la Lírica for her exceptional interpretation of The Traviata. Javier Hernández, a soloist from Unión Artística El Cabo, received the second prize, while Roger Gutiérrez, also from El Cabo rondalla, took home the third prize. Beatriz Rodríguez Sivero, a member of La Rondalla Lyric Group Asociación Mamels, was awarded the runner-up prize.

The El Cabo Artistic Union also achieved the sole Pulso y Púa award and presented its own annual prize for the best musical arrangement, which this year, based on the jury’s decision, was once again awarded to El Cabo rondalla.

This year, the competing rondallas, in order, were Orfeón La Paz, Masa Coral Tenerife, La Rondalla Lyric Group Mamel’s Association, Peña del Lunes 1965, Unión Artística El Cabo, Las Valkirias, and Gran Tinerfe. Each had a maximum of 30 minutes to showcase their lyrical repertoires at the contest held in the Auditorium of Tenerife Adán Martín.

The judging panel for the Interpretation section consisted of Pedro Chamorro, a professor of plectrum instruments at the Arturo Soria Conservatory of Music in Madrid, and a renowned concert pianist and composer; Celia Laguna Davia, a choral director and professor of Vocal Repertoire at the Federico Moreno Tórroba Conservatory; and Montserrat Giró (Montserrat García Ruiz), a distinguished lyrical singer.

Meanwhile, the Presentation section was judged by Teresa Hernández Quesada, a textile technician and clothing maker; Rudymar (Rudy del Mar Medina Leal), a graduate in Fashion Design; and Mauricio Pérez Jiménez, a professor of Fine Arts specialising in photography and design, as well as a sculptor.

During the jury’s deliberation, the singer Besay Pérez delivered a captivating performance.

The task of presenting this edition of the Rondallas Contest was undertaken by journalist Zenaido Hernández. The event was broadcast live on Mírame Televisión, Canal 4 TV, and Ahora TV, as well as on Televisión Canaria, through the website www.rtvc.es, and was also available for later viewing on Monday.
