Expressing condolences on behalf of the entire Corporation, the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has acknowledged the passing of Lorenzo Olarte Cullen, former president of the Government of the Canary Islands from 1988 to 1991.
Dávila emphasized the indispensable role of Lorenzo Olarte in understanding Canary Islands politics, describing him as a man of courage who confronted the last remnants of Francoism and later defended the Canary Islands against Madrid.
Referring to Olarte as “a great politician” and “an indispensable political figure” for comprehending regional politics in the Canary Islands, Dávila extended her deepest condolences to Olarte’s family, friends, and loved ones.
