Neighbors of La Paz, in Puerto de la Cruz, concerned about the increase in bottles

Neighbors of La Paz, in Puerto de la Cruz, show their concern about the increase in bottles during the weekends that take place in the place and at specific points, such as the Mirador de La Paz and the Paseo of the Coast, very frequented by tourists and visitors to the municipality, leaving them in lamentable conditions. While it is true that there were always concentrations of this type in the area, they have increased after the COVID-19 pandemic, they maintain, as has the age of the minors who participate.

Those affected state that there are numerous groups of young people who meet at the indicated points after 9:00 p.m., walk, shout, run, consume alcoholic beverages and make noise also in the streets Pitera and La Palmera and the Paseo de Agatha Christie until after two in the morning.
Unlike in previous years, very numerous groups and increasingly younger ages are those who ingest alcoholic beverages of all kinds. Therefore, they consider that public administrations should take measures to avoid scandals and destruction in the vicinity and in public places and, at the same time, reduce the age of minors who are part of this type of outings.
Neighbors point out, however, that “not all young people” have the same attitude as there are groups that meet peacefully to talk or simply walk around the area. “But there are others who get in and out of moving cars, get on motorcycles in groups of three or move shouting and laughing on the hoods of moving vehicles in addition to causing damage to urban furniture, such as wastebaskets, benches. and garden irrigation, and leaving bags, bottles, plastic cups lying on the floor, despite the fact that there are empty bins, and crystals scattered in spaces that, in addition, are a tourist attraction and therefore, visited by many tourists who stay in the hotels and apartments in the area ”, they add.
In this sense, an affected neighbor clarifies that “we are not opposed to young people having fun, on the contrary, but to the way they are doing it”.

Those harmed by this situation assure that they have transferred their complaints to the City Council and that in recent weeks the police presence in the area has increased. However, they consider that this is not enough to end a reality that can be detrimental to a specific sector of the population and demand training-preventive actions to be taught in educational centers from an early age, which reinforce the work that is done in the family nucleus since they consider that it is the best decision to avoid greater evils in the future.

481 acts of sanction for breaching anti-Covid measures

In recent weeks, the Local Police of Puerto de la Cruz has carried out 9 acts of sanctions for the consumption of alcohol or narcotics in the street and has drawn up 481 acts of sanction for infractions of the anti-Covid measures, they confirm from the City Council. The Local Police has proof of the bottles that are organized in La Paz and there is more than one unit that is every weekend in that area dispersing the young people who are in the place despite the fact that not all of them make bottles but they pass there the while.
